In many native cultures, when deceased souls pass from this world, they depart into the West over a rainbow
bridge.

Here on the west coast of the North American continent, a soul setting off over the depths of our Pacific Ocean feels only natural. The direction seems fitting, moving over unfathomed watery deeps, toward an unmeasured horizon, approaching an unknown new world.

The ocean itself is seen as our Mother, the source from which life springs, an unbounded reservoir of fluid emotion, a place to merge into the infinite.

Our Autumn hike this year again falls near
Halloween,  The Day of the Dead, and All Souls Day.  This is the time of year when the veil between worlds thins and our beloved dead are honored.

We will do so on this hike as we traverse the open hillsides that look directly out over the vast expanse of our Mother Ocean.

During this ceremonial hike, you will:

-Pass on the trail between the waving golden grasses of Fall

-Gaze over the clear blue spread of our western waters

-Rest at the top of 100-foot rocky cliffs that anchor the energy of the area

-Help build an altar to honor our ancestors

-Have the opportunity to journey to your compassionate and healed ancestor allies

-Send your thoughts, prayers and blessings out over the Mother Ocean

-Explore for yourself the Rainbow Bridge to the Other Side

-Share an easy, rolling day with others of like mind and heart

Come join us for a day to honor and commune with our ancestors,
the immense breadth of Mother Ocean, and the spirit of the
mountain.

For forty years, Steve has been doing ceremony and hiking around the shoulders of our local mother-mountain.

On these visits to Mt. Tam, we will hike with mindfulness to key power spots, many secret or hidden from casual view.  There, we will bond with the presence of the mountain, perform ceremony, make offerings and honor the local spirits.  We will connect with the power and heart of the land, and with each other, heart to heart.

Steve Orsary is a shamanic practitioner, healer and poet who has hiked thousands of miles, many of them around Mt. Tam where he has walked every trail on the map and many that aren't. He and his wife, MaryAnn, work in Corte Madera where they practice Bioenergy Balancing, shamanic healing and body-centered psychotherapy. Read more about Steve.
